Overhead Crane Maintenance Service Schedule

Service Function carried out by our Service Engineers
Overhead Crane

(1)  ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

Contactors – All controller contacts or contactor tips are inspected for wear, cleaned and adjusted where applicable.  Contactors etc., are checked for freedom of movement to ensure minimum arcing on braking and optimum lift.

Limit Switches – All limit switches are checked for correct operation, i.e. over hoisting, over lowering, cross travel, slack rope switches.

Pendant Controls – Pendants are checked for wear and damage to controls and buttons.  Cables are checked for wear and abrasions.

(2) MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT

Wheels and Gearing – Both main travel and cross travel wheels are checked for wear, damage and abrasion etc., along with all other mechanical components, including open gearing.
Gearboxes are checked via inspection covers for wear and leaks at seals.

Sheave and Ropes – Diverter sheaves, hook return sheaves and all load ropes are checked for wear, the latter particularly for splintering or damage of any kind.

Brakes – All brakes are adjusted to the correct setting to ensure that they operate at maximum efficiency.  Minimal but even wear then results, giving the greatest safety factor.

Lubrication – All necessary lubrication and greasing is carried out.

(3) EXCLUSIONS TO AGREEMENT

We do not include for the provision of extra long ladders and scaffolding to enable a service to be carried out, or stripping or dismantling of major components, sub-assemblies, gearboxes etc., over and above normal manufacturers service inspection covers.

Whilst we include for the supply of all lift lubricants and grease on a topping up basis, we do not include for major refills or complete change of gearbox oil.

Supporting steelwork and mains conductor systems are not within the scope of this agreement but can be quoted for separately if required.

(4) EXTENT OF AGREEMENT

Our quotation is based on the understanding that the equipment is in good working order, i.e. in a serviceable condition.  If this is not the case, we reserve the right to amend our initial quotation.  The service offered includes the thorough checking and lubrication of both mechanical and electrical components and such minor running adjustments that can be carried out with a normal travelling kit of tools during normal working hours at the time of the visit.

(5) CUSTOMER INFORMATION

On completion of the maintenance service, a report will be submitted to client detailing any defects found, along with recommendations for repairs or renewal.  If the equipment is found in a dangerous condition, it will be reported verbally to a responsible person on site before our engineers leave the premises
